Located at Amausi in the beautiful city of Lucknow is the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The airport is the thirteenth-busiest in India and the second largest as well as busiest in Northern and Central India ranking just after Indira Gandhi International Airport of New Delhi. The Lucknow airport is located just 10 km from the city's main railway station. Although the airport was constructed in 1986; it received international status in the year 2012. Lucknow Airport received the "Best Airport" award from AAI (Airports Authority of India), along with Jodhpur Airport in July 2013.

In May 2012, Terminal 2 was inaugurated by the then civil aviation minister Ajit Singh and since then this terminal is being used exclusively for domestic flights.
